TAKASHI KANAZAWA 金澤隆
Born in 1986 in Kamagaya, Japan
Lives and works in Chiba, Japan
From roaring tigers to delicate cranes, Takashi Kanazawa’s shining paintings crafted with metal pigments and minute brushwork explore the vibrancy of animals and the sacred beasts of Japan. Kanazawa, who has a Master’s degree from Tokyo University in the traditional Japanese painting technique of Nihonga, utilizes the texture and reflective quality of pigments such as silver and tin to impart life and vibrancy unto his subjects. Posed against minimalist backgrounds, Kanazawa’s beasts possess a spiritual quality to them, capturing the viewer’s eye and keeping them spellbound with their fragile yet dangerous auras.
